Palladium Club – Odessa…..(and the Meteo)

March 21, 2009

The premises is split between a Hotel and Club of the same name.  I will blog about the hotel separately……

……but will take this opportunity to slip in a pic of the rooms…….

…….and common areas………

…….before going onto the club……..

…..and a little detail.

The Club can hold up to 1500 people and also provides some good food….well it was bound to have a restaurant….it is a hotel too remember!

It has 3 bars….with barmen who think they are Tom Cruise in Cocktail…..but that’s Ok if you like cocktails which have been airborne longer than the International Space Station.

The Palladium Club also has……a club within a club…..called the Meteo…..which is R’n’B only, for those who feel the need to “shake that booty”…..or in some cases wobble your cellulite.

OI!!!!! ……..Ok, now I have your attention again……the Palladium also has a large concert hall and large disco as well.  Yes, as normal, amongst the “entertainment” provided are strippers every now and again…..

What?……Aren’t you bored with stripper pics yet?…….Hmmm, Ok….but then I must get on…..

………Right, I will continue…..although now having got to the stripper pic, no doubt you have buggered off to another blog, so I am probably talking to myself.

Ahhh…..what’s the point in carrying on, most of you loyal readers have seen the stripper pic and moved on… here’s the link……..

X-Club, Odessa

March 21, 2009

Hmmm, well what can I say?

The X-Club is for over 21’s only, has a dress and behaviour code…..well can’t have just “any old perv” coming in can they…..and “face control”.  “Face Control” means bouncers…, not those kind of “bouncers”, I mean door staff!!

Here is a link but you have to click “English” top centre of the page, every time you turn a page!

The club can be found at Station Bolshogo Fontana and is open all year.

Not much else to say……strippers, lesbian shows, and who knows what else?

Club Yo! – Odessa

March 21, 2009

This is a short blog on Club Yo!…which can be found on Polskiy Descent and is open all year round.

The length of it is no reflection on the club, but the below link takes you on a virtual tour of the place… there is little point me waffling on about it……….oh yes, the link is to the English part of the website…..although I think you will need Flash to play it……

What do you mean, the website’s in Russian… in the green tab, top left where it says “Eng“!!!!

Suffice to say, the club can accommodate 1500 people, has a separate “disco room” for up to 150 people…..for private parties obviously, chill out room, billiards, ten pin bowling alley, pleasant atmosphere, comfortable furniture and provides an “attractive” menu…….

No that’s not me…….or the wife, you cheeky twat……and yes, it is a photo from Club Yo!!!!

Itaka Nightclub, Odessa

March 21, 2009

The Itaka Nightclub is situated in Arcadia together with numerous others and is of course, a summer haven for the young…….”tech-no, tech-no, tech-no bloody notice”…..crowd.

Well, actually I’m not being too honest here, the “dance and trance” people are down the street at the Ibiza nightclub, Itaka is more of a “modern pop with a little trance, R’n’B and……..anything else you’d have on a random I-Pod download”

As you can see, it is not a club which can be confused with any other.  The “Acropolis theme” runs throughout this club, from entrance to exit and everything in between.

It may be, of course that the vibrations from the decibel level have reduced the club to an Acropolistic state….who knows? …..Well, Ok, we all know it was designed this way and not the result of the earth tremors from the “bass bins”, and “woofers”, which are equal only in size to the “Titans”…..which is at least in keeping with the Greek theme.

Itaka not only has a massive…..bloody massive dance floor, but seats about 200 people as well……as it would seeing as it serves some decent food, the hookah, wines, spirits and some very bizarre cocktails.

Did you say decent food….at a nightclub?  Are you having a laugh mate?  – No, I’m serious, they serve some good food here, everything from “little finger nibbles”……yes I can spell “entrees”, I just likes the sound of “little finger nibbles”… full course meals.  Hence the reason for being able to seat 200 people…….well you’d look bloody stupid on the dance floor dancing with a hookah….. no, not hooker, I said hookah!!

The service can be somewhat slow, owing to the fact one waitress can be looking after up to 10 tables at a time, but when you come here it is normally to see it through until the sun rises again… you really are in no rush!!

Most nights, at around midnight, the club opens with a rather large firework show…….the kind that will be seen by most satellites orbiting Earth…..and with such intensity that it could possibly be interpreted as a “First Strike” by the muppets in the Pentagon on their little screens….I wonder how many times they have gone to “Death-Con 3” when the club opens…….particularly when it is followed by the “sonic boom” of the music system starting up!

Anyway, in keeping with the Greek theme, many of the waitresses wear togas…..”Toga! Toga! Toga! Toga!”…..for some reason I am now lost in a scene from “National Lampoons Animal House” with the late and great John Belushi….

…….but obviously the staff are a little more attractive to the eye than an over-weight American male in a bed sheet!!

As well as the obvious dancing and frivolity, the club puts on a different show each night, so the best seats to get are around the stage, second tier up, if you want a good view whilst you “chow down” for the calorie intake you will later burn off on the dance floor yourself.

The acts differ nightly……well to keep you coming back……. and also include Russian and Ukrainian pop stars who are passing through Odessa at the time.  Ani Lorak is well worth a listen if she is on when you are here…..

……although you can expect anything from Pop Stars, Fire Eaters, Strippers and Acrobats!

As with all the nightclubs in Arcadia, Itaka generally “kicks off” around midnight and runs through until day light is well and truly back……and some people are already heading to the beach.

The club has one of the longest bars I have ever seen.  It is……… v – e – r – y    l – o – n – g ! ! !

Anyway, this club is up there in popularity with Ibiza…..although the music is more varied, so you will normally find several hundred people here each night in the summer season.

Katran Restaurant, Odessa

March 21, 2009

Katran Restaurant is to be found at the end of Mayachniy Pereulok.  As in keeping with a restaurant renowned for it’s seafood throughout Odessa, the restaurant has a “nautical theme.”……well see for yourself……

…….yes, the restaurant does look like Noah’s Ark!!

If you like sea food, and a truly spectacular sea view whilst you eat, then this is the restaurant in Odessa for you!

It is not located near the City Centre, therefore being missed by many a tourist, but is extremely popular with the locals.  Whilst you can get “near it” by local transport, I would suggest a taxi on this occasion.  The closest you will get by bus is the spectacular Mujskoi  (Men’s) Orthodox Monastery at the top of the hill.

You are then faced with a 1 kilometer walk down the hill to reach the restaurant.  The restaurant cannot been seen from the top.

The restaurant has menu’s in both English and Russian, which as I say are very “Sea” orientated….although you can get a decent steak here if sea food isn’t really your thing.  The service is not the fastest, but with the views on offer, you really are in no rush.

When the sun is setting on a late summers evening, this is a perfect place to take you lady for a romantic meal.

I can but only recommend this place……as would any local!
