Well dear readers, you will remember a recent post entitled “And over in Lviv”, where I posed a few questions about the 2012 preparations. …….Yes you do remember it……….you do!
Anyway, here is the answer to one of my questions……..
Ukrainian News – Officers of the Lviv regional chief office of the Ministry of Interior Affairs have arrested in Donetsk a bookkeeper of one of companies engaged in the construction of a stadium in Lviv for hosting the Euro 2012 European football championship finals.
The womanis suspectedof embezzling of over Hr 1 million of state funds allocated for the construction of the stadium. Ukrainian News learned this from a statement by the press service of the Lviv regional chief office of the Ministry of Interior Affairs.
“The Lviv detectives have arrested a bookkeeper of one of companies which was engaged in the preparations for the EURO-2012. Police have all grounds to believe that the arrested woman was involved in machinations with the budget funds allocated for the construction of the stadium,” reads the statement.
Police were in possession of information that the suspect was hiding in Donetsk region and planned to move to another region.
A team of detectives of the Lviv regional chief office of the Ministry of Interior Affairs was sent to Donetsk region to arrest the suspect.
At present, the arrested woman is kept in a temporary detention facility and the question of her imprisonment is being decided. Police are checking the financial files of the enterprise where she worked.
Police have instituted a criminal case on part 5 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (embezzlement of property via position abuse).
The statement reads that the sum of embezzled funds can appear to be higher.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the auditors of the Lviv branch of the Azovinteks Company (Mariupol, Donetsk region) on April 2 uncovered a loss of money and a document was drawn up and sent to police to check the involvement of a bookkeeper in the embezzlement of the funds.
On March 30, 2010, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine appointed the Donetsk-based Altkom Company the general contractor of the construction of the stadium in Lviv and the runway of the Lviv international airport for hosting the Euro 2012 European football championship finals in place of the Azovinteks Company.
