Presidential elections Ukraine – A full list of runners so far

So far I count 24 presidential candidates for the elections on 25th May.  I thought I would list them as it seems quite likely only a few will get mentioned in any English text:


Party Nominees (in no particular order):

Mykhail Dobkin – Official Party Regions candidate

Vadym Rabynovych  – Official Ukrainian Jewish Congress candidate

Yulia Tymoshenko – Official Batkishchyna Party candidate

Oleh Tiahnybok – Official Svoboda candidate

Petro Symonenko – Official Communist Party candidate

Anatoliy Hrytsenko – Official Civil Position Party candidate

Oleksandr Klymenko – Official Ukrainian People’s Party candidate

Vasyl Kuibida – Official Peoples Movement of Ukraine candidate

Oleh Liashko – Official Radical Party candidate

Petro Poroshenko – (Self nominee) Formally supported by the Solidarity Party, Vitaly Klitschko and UDAR

As far as I know that is all the candidates registered thus far – though the closing date for registration and the paying of fees is 4th April, so there may yet be further names to add to the list.

Anyway, make of that list what you will.

(I must admit, I am secretly looking forward to Darth Vader’s campaign speeches to break up what will be an otherwise monotonous monitoring of candidate media time. )
