Where to run?

February 17, 2011

Well dear readers, normally the unwritten agreement between Ukraine and Russia that if a wrong-doer can make it across the border between the nations, the other will not extradite the individual back……very useful for corrupt politicians and civil service people over the years……looks as though it may no longer be as safe as it once was:

MOSCOW, February 15 (Itar-Tass) – Ukraine has extradited to Russia Vyacheslav Ryabtsev, suspected of involvement in the mass murder in the village of Kushchevskaya, Krasnodar Territory last year.

“The Ukrainian authorities met Russia’s request to extradite Russian citizen Vyacheslav Ryabtsev, accused of the murder of several people in the village of Kushchevskaya,” spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General’s Office Marina Gridneva earlier told Itar-Tass.

“Ryabtsev was extradited on February 9. He has been charged with murder in complicity with other persons. He admitted his involvement in the crime during a questioning,” Investigation Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Tass.

The criminal case against Ryabtsev is handled by the SK’s department for the North Caucasus and South Federal Districts

…….of course the subject of this extradition is neither rich, probably not “connected” and not a politician, but still it will worry a few people wanted on either side of the border.
