A Weekend Surrounded By Pricks!!!!

April 10, 2009

Well, despite all you ladies quickly looking at my blog whilst your husband is sat watching the TV or getting ready to trot off into town for a few beers, this particular blog has nothing to do with these……..

Well……..you didn’t think I would show any other kind of “prick” did you????

By the way ladies……..if you are letting him out for a beer or two alone, make sure you write his address on the back of his hand in a permanent marker and stick a £5 between his wrist and his watch strap……..that way, you know that when he has had “one to many” and is laid semi-conscious in the gutter at the Taxi Rank, just barely able to crawl into a Taxi, the driver can read the address you wrote on his hand and find the money for the trip under his watch-strap without having to search through his trouser pockets……..which have more than likely been subjected to a quick urinal rinse!!

Anyway……the pricks I am talking about are those on display 11-12th April here in Odessa………….It’s the Annual Odessa Cactus Show…………

There will be over 2000 catcus’s on show from Kyiv, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkov.  The exhibition is at 85 Fransuski Boulevard and is open 1000 to 1700 Saturday and Sunday.  Entrance is free.

What?……….Why are they having a cactus exhibition?………..Well, if you lived in a 49 square meter apartment on the 9th floor with 3 or more other people, you’d want a bit of vegetation to liven the place up to.

Why cactus’s?……..It is to encourage children to buy a plant and take it home and look after it……….and well, after 20 minutes, the bloody kids are bored with it and bugger off out with their mates, never to give it another thought in their entire lives……..and a cactus is a hardy plant that can withstand the “tough love” of…….or indeed complete lack of love…….displayed by today’s youth!!

Liberation Day – Odessa

April 10, 2009

Well………today it is 65 years to the day, that Odessa was liberated from the German Army in 1944.

liberation-day

There will be, as there is every year, large commemorations and dedications throughout the City today.

So today, being an “old soldier” myself, my hat comes off to those still alive who fought for their homes and families.

God bless you Babooshka……and all of your old brothers and sisters in arms…….those still with us and those who have fallen.
